Week 53
(I had to check that there is actually a week 53 this year).
(and experimenting with new, but still minimalist, layout).

Photos from my "regular" spots on the way to pick up Lucas. It is slowly starting to get light again at 0815hrs. For the last couple of weeks it has been too dark.
25 November, same spot
Fire at De Wilgen (other side of Drachten and near where we used to keep the boat).
Walking
45kms this week, just around our place, with Zoey. She likes to swim in the clear water pools (blue on the map). I listen to audio books while I'm walking - a real blessing, as I would never make time to read otherwise - or I'd fall asleep!!
During the day, there are "canons" firing all day long. Lots of people, old and young, spend the whole day firing soccer balls out of old milk tins.....and some more elaborate models. Poor old Zoey spent the day hiding under the table!
Just on the fireworks themselves; people in our village seem to spend a huge amount of money on fireworks each New Year. I can still remember the "Threepenny Bungers" from when I was a kid - they seemed like a half stick of dynamite, in size at least. I don't remember when "they" decided to ban private fireworks in Melbourne or if there was any debate or grievances. I think there would be a public outcry if they decided for whatever reason to ban fireworks here.
CaC2 + 2 H20----> C2H2 + Ca(OH)2
Calciumcarbide + Water ---> Acetylene gas +
Calciumhydroxide
