Week 24
New Driveway
Too much rain, so they've stopped for a while until they can go further without getting bogged and/or churning everything to bits.
Recycling old windows
The chook shed should look pretty good by the time I've finished. It is also Hendrik's little work shed/getaway, so he is keeping an eye on my work!
Rain!
I guess I should be used to it...... but we have had more than 50mm from Sunday evening to Wednesday - the sponge is full again!

.......and we think the birds in the pole didn't survive. We'll make some more wooden birdhouses so that they might have a better chance. Some Dutch internet sites give the sizes of the holes for different types of birds. This for a "koolmees". (the birds in the pole).
The "Moomba" Parade
This was ours - "The Netherlands" There were 18 countries represented.
"England" won the Public's prize and the Judges' prize.
Egypt
Janny and our neighbour Annette were the "hookers" from Amsterdam. Apparently there is a famous couple (of sisters) who are now into their 70's.
It's for the kids.... yeah, right?
Janny's "family" team won First Prize for the playback show - "Synchronized Swimming". Janny, two sisters and four nieces.

I have come to the conclusion that these events are really about being allowed to drive your tractor down the main street....and that the rest is about making it different each time you use the tractor. I note that Janny is always in the middle of everything & an interesting choice in national character. The chook shed no longer, eh? Looks downright homely.
ReplyDeleteAs for the rain - we are both getting it. How do the pumpkins go with that much water?
