Week 28 A 60's clothes line

Week 28

Another slow week. Still trying to finish the bookkeeping. Funny how I keep finding other things to do, like repair the driveway, sand the chook shed, mowing..... anything other than bookwork!

We had three new kids come on Saturday - all from the one family. Again, I can only admire the system that allows the respite and the assistance we offer. The kids seemed to enjoy it; they spent the whole day outside on billy carts (skelters), mountain bikes and interacting with other kids (eight in total).

Our sheep...... well, a nephew's sheep. Saves me mowing.

The adventures of Ben.... continued.

He has just booked his flights to Hong Kong. via Moscow and a few other places. Real heart in mouth stuff for a parent these days. At least he is travelling with the two mates who will also be studying in Hong Kong.

He went to Barcelona again, just with friends; not for photo shoots or other work.

Some of his photos. We keep in touch using Whatsapp.

Old Photos

I received an email from one of my NAS drives that it was "having a problem" - it has ALL our photos on it - so I have bought a new 3 TB drive and am copying all the photos to it - while I still can.
Occasionally I stop to have a look at some of them - do we have any idea what photos we have these days? I think I'll print a few more Hema Photo Albums of some very special photos - they seem to be more lasting than the zillions on the computer.

The House in 2005

We had the front roof done in 2005. The thatched roof came in 2006. The old red tiles used to be almost porous. Any water in the cracks would freeze during the winter and I would find all the broken bits (of roof tile) on the ground when it thawed.

April. 2016

and now.... (with the clothesline still there since the 60's)

Planning a trip to France (by car, not yet by boat).

As mentioned before, Frank and Pam care for a historic building in Saint-Georges-Motel, so we are going to stay there for a few days. Janny's sister will hold the fort, but it is at these times that we realise just how hard it is to get away. Clients and personnel rosters, food, maintenance, mowing etc., all have to be in some semblance of order. Ankie will probably come to live in our house, so it is good for Rennie, Hendrik and Zoey. Ben will already be in Hong Kong and Anneke will still be around. The refugees won't have moved in yet......

We might stay overnight in Bruges..... just to break the trip and see something else.

Haircut and Shampoo for Zoey

What's happening?

We think she liked it...... and she hasn't been swimming in the smelly pool since!!

Choosing Zoey from a litter of eight - 10 years ago!

2010

Madeline in Wijnjewoude, 2010 - and now she's about to turn 10!! Already!

Even Janny's Mum uses Facebook!!

She posted this photo (of her) from when they used to live in our house..... again from the 60's I think.

  Refugees in Our Apartments

Well, probably going ahead as one of the boffins is drawing up a contract and thinking of things like us supplying the tea towels! Janny soon put them right on that one!

  1. Always enjoy reading your blog Ken. I hope to be heading back to my bike in Tbilisi in August and will continue into Western Europe some time after that so expect a visitor. Maybe not until 2017 though.

Ita good to see the photos from the same perspective to contrast the changes. Youve managed to get through a huge amount of work - congratulations to you both
